HI, I'M SASHA

The Serendipitous Travel Journalist
Hi, I'm Sasha Tobago, a writer, filmmaker, historian, photographer, podcast host, and the Serendipitous Travel Journalist. Now you may be wondering, what does the latter even mean? Well, let's break it down...
Journalist
First, I'm a journalist. Yes, a real one. And one of the good ones. I'm classically trained with degrees in journalism and literary writing; and experiences working for and in newsrooms.
I've interviewed celebrities, politicians, authors, artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, cops, firefighters, park rangers, archeologists, daredevils, and more.
I deeply believe in ethics, objectivity and the important role real, ethical journalists serve as the Fourth Estate in every society around the world.
As an independent journalist, I interview a lot of people, but I also do a ton of research behind the scenes. Because I live by the journalistic creed: Trust but verify.
Global Traveler
Second, I'm a global, eco conscious traveler who has journeyed on 6 continents and nearly all of the 50 United States.
What I love most about travel are the awesome people I meet; the amazing wildlife I encounter; and the fascinating things I learn along the way.

I've always been naturally curious, with an insatiable thirst for knowledge and the Truth. I learn so much about history, culture, nature, flavors, and the world around us when I travel.
And, I learn the Truth about a place and its people when I visit in person. Like what it's really like to live in a favela in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Or, which city is actually the birthplace of surfing in California.
In my films, podcast, prose and more, I share the golden nuggets of knowledge and wisdom that I collect along the way — via my travels and via my in-depth research.

Beautiful Serendipity
Finally, I am a huge fan of Serendipity — those magical moments in life, and in travel, that you cannot pre-plan.
Most of the people I interview are people I meet randomly and Serendipitously. Like Jake Rodenroth, a second-generation race car driver in Florida. Or Andriana (Andy) Fragola, a marine biologist and shark expert in Hawaii.
The more you watch, read, listen to, and engage with the amazing stories I discover and share, the more worldly, knowledgeable and well-rounded you can be and feel.
And, the more you will appreciate how amazing this country is. Our world is. And just how much we, as humans, have in common — throughout history and around the globe.
